Inclusion vs. Integration

I recently had an illuminating conversation with some friends about the difference between inclusion and integration, which the image below puts in visual form. The context of the conversation was how to include special needs families (and especially special needs kids) into the normal life of the church (after all, we’re all special needs kids to God). Integration is like blacks and whites in the 60s eating in the same lunchroom but sitting at different tables. As the graphic indicates, inclusion goes much deeper.
