The Pathway to Particularization (Key Dates and How You Can Pray)

Dear Creekstone family,
As we enter the formal process of particularization as a local church, I want to share with you key dates and how you can pray.

Saturday, January 9, 2016. Our elder candidates, Jesse Turk and James Daniel, will be personally interviewed and theologically examined by the Church Planting Commission of Perimeter Church. Please be in prayer for these men and encourage them as they prepare for and persevere through these ecclesiastical trials. I will explain more about our 3-year elder plan in the sermon on Sunday, January 31.

Sunday, January 17, 2016.  Members of Creekstone Church will sign a congregational petition to particularize, which will be presented the following Saturday at the stated meeting of the Metro Atlanta Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).

Saturday, January 23, 2016. Creekstone’s petition to particularize will be received by Metro Atlanta Presbytery, who will in turn appoint a commission that will formally interview and examine our elder candidates for ordination as Ruling Elders in the PCA.

Saturday, January 30, 2016. The official oral exam/interview of elder candidates by the Metro Atlanta Presbytery particularization commission.

Sunday, January 31, 2016.  Pending our candidates’ approval by the Presbytery commission, we will formally call a congregational meeting for Sunday, March 6, at which Creekstone members will vote to confirm our elder candidates and to officially call me as organizing pastor.

Sunday, March 6, 2016.  The congregational meeting will be held to confirm elder candidates and to call the organizing pastor.

Sunday, April 3, 2016.  The Metro Atlanta Presbytery particularization commission will oversee a special evening service at which they will ordain and install our elder candidates as well as install me as organizing pastor.

With so much to do between now and April 3, there are a few essential ways you can be praying for this process.

(1) Pray for James and Jesse as they prepare and sit for their interviews and theological exams.

(2) Pray for the health of the church, that we would be supernaturally awake to the glory of God’s grace in Jesus, yielding unity in mission, enthusiasm for ministry and encouragement of leadership.

(3) Pray for funding. We will share more about this need during the service on January 24. Until then, please pray that God will release the generosity of his Spirit among us so that we will have the necessary resources not only to maintain, but to grow the ministry unto greater gospel influence in our community as we seek to glorify God by helping people come alive to the wonder of the gospel!

Soli Deo gloria,
